ONE. LAST. PACK.
THANK YOU SOUTH METRO FOR 10+ YEARS OF THE SOUTH METRO MOBILEPACK™
THE SOUTH METRO STORY
THE SOUTH METRO STORY
Can we pack 3 million meals in one week? That was the question that launched the largest single-site meal packing event in the history of Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). It was a God–sized vision that took 20 partner congregations, 10,000 volunteers, three forklifts, 19 packing shifts and more hairnets than we can count. And it happened in less than a year of planning. This event was first hosted at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.
We took the energy and momentum from that first pack and with a with desire to recreate the event and build on the compassion and community that pulled together for a common goal – a BIG common goal. We were able to use a warehouse space in the back of shopjimmy.com for an amazing week of packing and smiling and serving and sharing. 9,000 volunteers packed 2.5 million meals for kids and families around the world.
With the addition of several more partner churches and the momentum of previous years, along with the use of the former Rainbow Foods store in Apple Valley, after 46 hours of packing, 24 shifts and 15,000 volunteers we successfully packed 4 million meals.
We returned to the former Rainbow foods in Apple Valley, MN for a week of packing meals for those in need. It was a blessing to be in a place we knew so well. 10,000 volunteers packed 3 million meals together.
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church stepped in and offered space on multiple levels for the 7,000 volunteers to pack 2 million meals.
Berean Baptist took the lead this time around and over another snow-filled and sub-zero temperature week 1.4 million meals were packed and prepared for kids around the world by 5,000 volunteers. During this event, the South Metro Mobile Pack event passed 15,000,000 meals packed for those in need.
